In the throes of teething and on the hunt for some fun and stylish teething toys for them AND you? Then this post is for you!

At the time of writing Violet is nine months old and has cut two bottom teeth, one top tooth and the second top tooth isn’t far behind – and don’t we know it!

Her cheeks are burning, absolutely everything she picks up goes straight into her mouth and the more she has to gnaw on the better. Happily things have changed a lot since we were dealing with teething the first time around, and I’m amazed at the new brands on the market to help now.

Chewie Cat is one of those brands, set up by mum of two Katherine Goodes who was on the hunt for baby-safe necklaces her little boy could safely chew on but found everything on the market was either poor quality or not her style. So, she decided to make her own.

Chewie Cat UK teething toys review & giveaway!

If you haven’t come across Chewie Cat before they specialise in personalised silicone teething rings and necklaces that babies can chew safely, as well as baby toys, accessories and clothing.

All their teething rings and necklaces are handmade from 100% food grade silicone and are free from any toxic materials. Katherine very kindly gifted us a personalised teething ring for Violet and two teething necklaces – one for me, and one for me to give away to one of you lovely lot!

The teething rings come in lots of different colours and styles from beautifully crocheted animals to wooden engraved rings. Being a lockdown baby and with rainbows being a symbol of hope throughout the pandemic I chose Chewie Cat’s personalised rainbow elephant teething ring (£12) for Violet, which is made from BPA-free silicone and wood and is designed to soothe a teething baby’s gums.

Like everything else she comes into contact with at the moment the teething ring went straight into Violet’s mouth – and it hasn’t been far from her hands since!

As well as something to gnaw safely on Chewie Cat’s teething rings are also designed to encourage early motor skills as your baby explores patterns, textures and colours. Violet is fascinated with running her fingers over the letters of her name on her teething ring – check out the look of concentration on her face!

Like the teething rings, Chewie Cat’s teething necklaces also come in a range of colours and styles, and to follow on with the rainbow theme I chose Chewie Cat’s rainbow Amy teething necklace (£9) for me.

The beads are strung on a soft satin cord with a breakaway clasp, and all the beads are secured on the cord with double surgeon knots and tested vigorously to ensure that they are secure.

The necklace is the perfect length for Violet to grab and chew on when she’s in my arms, and teething aside I have to say I’ll carry on wearing it long after teething is over!

As a breastfeeding mama an added bonus for me is that the necklace also acts as a distraction for Violet’s ‘free’ hand (and foot!) while feeding, so instead of tugging at my clothes or pulling my hair she can play with the necklace instead.
