Got something you’re saving up for?

Something you want to buy or see or do, but not sure how to achieve it due to the small matter of finances?

financial goals

We’re currently in the process of saving up to renovate our flat, something that’s easier said than done what with mortgage payments, two sets of nursery fees, after school clubs and financial commitments in general.

Yet the saying goes that a goal without a plan is just a wish, and although we have a goal, we don’t have a firm plan in place in order to achieve it. So, how can we help our dream become a reality, rather than just a wish? This collaborative post explains how!

How to achieve your financial goals in 5 easy steps

1. Create a master plan

People are unique and different factors can act as motivators or deterrents. Think about your strengths, weaknesses and personality traits and create a plan that fits your current circumstances and is right for you. For example, swapping a monthly trip to the nail salon for a do-it-yourself treatment at home will soon start adding up!

2. Keep a diary

Set out your ambitions and dreams in a diary. Recording your thoughts and ideas will inspire change and help carry you to where you want to be. Use the information for further reflection on what is valuable to you.

3. Reflect

At the end of each day think about your master plan and spend time reflecting on its significance to you. Go back over the day and think about what you did, what you learned, what happened, how it made you feel and how you could change your behavior to help achieve your goal in the future.

5. Act on your plans

People who take action will always be more successful than those who keep action in the virtual realm. Keep your master plan in mind, think positively, do the best you can and you’ll be on the road to achieving your goal!
