1. Change the taps
Sparkling new taps are an effortless way to make your bathroom look brand new, without breaking the bank. Fitting and repairing taps is an easy process that even those who aren’t a dab hand at DIY can get involved in. The hardest part is choosing between separate or mixer taps, and if you do go for silver and gold, make sure the other fixtures match as well!
2. Add a spot of spa-like luxury
Unlike any other room in your house, your bathroom functions as a mix of both practicality and luxury. If you’re worried that your space is a little too focused on the former, it’s easy to make this room the place where you can forget all your troubles. Why not add candles, a range of different scents, some fancy soaps, or some greenery – also one of this year’s biggest bathroom trends.
3. Clean the shower screen
Old shower screens can give away just how long it was when you last gave your bathroom some serious loving. By replacing your screens and shower enclosures, you can easily (and cheaply) revamp your wash space. Even changing the style of your screens from frameless to pivot shower screens, will make a big difference to your room.
4. Update your tiling
There’s no way around it. Retiling your bathroom will make a big difference to the look and feel of your room. You could consider enlisting the help of a professional bathroom fitter for the perfect finish, or there are many alternatives that won’t cost the earth and will still guarantee a worthwhile transformation. For example, swap retiling your floor with laying linoleum or vinyl flooring instead!
5. Add a new lick of paint
Perhaps one of the simplest but most effective ways to refresh a bathroom: paint it. A bright modern colour will allow plenty of light in the bathroom, and the pieces you can spruce up with your paintbrush are limitless; you could paint your old tiles (see above), revamp any existing cabinets, and even give your bath a much-needed refresh without having to make any structural changes. However, the only thing to remember is to use paint that works for wet areas to discourage any mould!
