Then read on!

biodegradable baby wipes

As a mum of three with two in nappies I shudder to think how many baby wipes we go through in a week, so when the news came that wet wipes could be banned in the UK in a government crackdown on disposable plastic I can’t deny being a tad alarmed.

Obviously the move is a good thing if it stops the clogging of sewers, the killing of marine life and the release of harmful fibres into the environment and of course it’s high time something is done. Yet there’s no getting away from the fact that on a day-to-day basis a sudden ban on baby wipes has huge ramifications for parents who have come to rely on them.

How else am I going to chisel bitty poo – you know the type I mean – off sticky bottoms? And what about all the other things you use baby wipes for that have absolutely nothing to do with babies, like cleaning the entire house and making school uniform last until the end of the week? There are certain situations in which cotton wool and water simply don’t cut the mustard. Or poo.

Of course the answer is simple: switch to biodegradable wipes.

To be quite honest I didn’t know biodegradable wipes existed until Childs Farm got in touch and invited us to give their biodegradable and 99% natural wipes a go.

We first came across Childs Farm when Littlest B was diagnosed with eczema as all of their products are paediatrician and dermatologist approved for sensitive and eczema prone skin, and you lovely lot told me you swear by them.

The brand has now expanded from toiletries into wipes with grapefruit and organic tea tree wipes (£2.49) which are totally free from parabens, SLSs (that’s a chemical foaming agent, to you and me) and mineral oils.

They’re the thickest biodegradable wipe on the market and I have to say they smell delicious – none of that chemically smell you get with some wipes and they don’t leave that oily residue on their skin – or yours – afterwards either.

Admittedly at £2.49 a pack they’re not the cheapest, but they are among the best in environmental terms and I must admit the price did make me think twice about how many I was using when taking them out of the pack – which is a good thing, right?

They also work as well as the existing wipes we were using, except you’ve got the added knowledge they’re not leaving an environmental footprint behind.

So if you fancy giving them a go and winning a month’s supply here’s how!
