After writing about how not to lose the back to school plot I thought I’d continue the theme with how not to lose a child (or two), which is slightly more important (although only marginally depending on your point of view!)

In all seriousness though, we’ve all been there – one minute they’re there, the next minute they’re gone and your heart is in your throat. It’s the busy places that make me nervous, like London train stations and packed beaches.

How not to lose a child or two

KoolioBandz reckon they’ve come up with the answer in the form of emergency identity wristbands, which come with a unique code you can register designed to reunite you with your child if they get lost.

They kindly sent us a pair (€9.95 for two) to try out, and I have to say I was sceptical at first. They’re not a tracking device – no information about you or your child is stored anywhere – and it’s completely anonymous too.

You basically get the band – which comes in pink or blue – and register its unique code on the KoolioBandz website. You enter one or two mobile phone numbers and choose your language, and that’s it.

If your child were to get lost all the finder needs to do is visit the website on the wristband, quote the code on it and KoolioBandz will be able to get a message to you.

Of course this wouldn’t be any good for sinister circumstances, but in cases where a child wanders off and is found by a good samaritan it’s a speedy way to be reunited with your child quickly and easily.

We used ours on our recent Hoburne Holiday in Paignton, Devon, where there were kids running riot everywhere you looked, and I have to say it did offer peace of mind.

Of course Little B wasted no time in taking his off, but had I distracted him while putting it on he probably wouldn’t have noticed, or I could have put it around his ankle instead.

Have you ever lost or found a child? How did you react?

We were sent two KoolioBandz free of charge for the purpose of review. As always all opinions are my own and based on my own honest experience.
