Natural Ketosis diet reviewAnd I did it eating butter, double cream and pork scratchings. It sounds bonkers, but that’s what following a natural ketosis diet involves, and I’m walking proof that it actually works.

For the last month I’ve been on a natural ketosis diet-to-your door plan for the purposes of a slim-down-for-summer feature for Mail Online’s Femail, and not only have I shed inches from my waist I’ve done it by frying vegetables in butter, mashing them with full-fat double cream and snacking on pork scratchings.

The idea is to get your body into ketosis, the body’s natural way of burning fat for energy by restricting sugar and starches. So basically, it’s a sugar detox by feasting on fat.

This is what happens:

  • You get 28 days worth of breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks delivered to your door in pouches (that’s right, no cooking! You just stick them in the microwave)
  • Add vegetables from an approved list to your meal, often cooked in butter or cream
  • Drink lots of water and 250ml of whole milk a day (alcohol and caffeinated drinks are banned but decaf is ok. Even though I didn’t completely stick to the alcohol ban, I still lost inches)

The cost of the plan ranges from £6.50 to £10 a day, and although it doesn’t include everything you need (you still need to buy all the necessary fruit, vegetables and fat) our weekly grocery shop dropped from an average £90 a week to under £50 because we weren’t buying all the usual meat, fish and (as much) alcohol.

Sound interesting? If you’d like to know more you can read my feature here. And I apologise in advance for the bikini shots.
