Seven going on seventeen.

That’s what I often find myself saying about our eldest, who seems to be growing into a little lady faster than I could ever have imagined.

little lady

From baby to toddler, from toddler to little girl and from little girl to little lady, since turning seven she’s suddenly become so grown up. From wanting her ears pierced (not happening) to having her own mobile phone (definitely not happening) we’re reaching all sorts of milestones in the blink of an eye.

She’s also rapidly developing her own sense of style, and one milestone I don’t mind reaching is helping her to express it. So, when kids’ jewellery brand Molly Brown London got in touch to see if we’d like to review one of their unique silver personalised necklaces, I thought it was a great opportunity to do just that.

Growing into a little lady with Molly Brown London

What makes Molly Brown London different?

Specialising in keepsake jewellery, Molly Brown offers a complimentary engraving service so you can have an initial, name or date engraved on your jewellery for that extra special touch.

What do you get?

All Molly Brown London jewellery comes in luxury jewellery boxes with silk pouches and a gift bag. I vividly recall my first piece of jewellery when I was little (a Care Bear brooch for those of you who remember what they were!) and I loved carefully putting it away in its case and hiding it in my bedroom, something I know BB will love doing too. We chose a personalised Angel of Mine Star Necklace (£55) featuring a white topaz star on one side and BB’s initial on the other.

What did we think?

My first impression when opening the box was how substantial the necklace was. I was expecting something a lot flimsier and lighter, but this is a decent piece of jewellery with a good weight to it. The pendant is super smooth and shiny with the white topaz stones embedded into a star shape, and BB’s initial is in the centre of the pendant on the other side.

The pendant comes on a 16-inch chain which you can either wear at its full length or adapt to 14 inches via the clasp at the back. There’s also a little silver bead featuring Molly Brown’s signature paw print hanging from the clasp.

If you’re looking for an extra special birthday or Christmas gift, or for something special to mark a specific occasion, you won’t be disappointed. Needless to say, BB loves it – what seven-year-old wouldn’t love to receive a sparkly necklace that has been personalised especially for them?

My verdict

As a first piece of ‘proper’ jewellery or as a gift for a special occasion I think our Angel of Mine necklace is fab – £55 may sound like a lot for children’s jewellery but you’re getting a quality piece of silver which will last them through their teenage years, into adulthood and beyond. To be honest I would wear one with my own initial on it!

Molly Brown London is currently holding a Black Friday sale with 30% off lots of pieces, or there’s 10% off anything if you sign up for the mailing list. We were gifted the Angel of Mine Star Necklace in exchange for this post. As always, all opinions are my own and based on my own honest experience, and I would never recommend a product I don’t love myself.
